Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the 2nd Workshop of the AGORA Project will be held 16-19 August 2013 at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This workshop is sponsored by the University of California High-Performance AstroComputing Center.

-------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW:

Since the 1st meeting in August 2012 to initiate a high-resolution galaxy simulations comparison project, 89 individuals from 39 different institutions worldwide (and growing), using a variety of platform codes, have agreed to participate in what has been named the Assembling Galaxies of Resolved Anatomy (AGORA) Project. This year we are bringing together numerical astrophysicists for a 3(4)-day workshop to review the progress made since the Project launch, and to discuss subsequent science-oriented projects. The workshop will consist of talks by participants focusing on latest scientific and numerical achievements, brainstorming sessions on how to move the Project forward, and discussions on challenges in numerical galaxy formation. Several working sessions will also be organized so that the science-oriented working groups can examine their progress and future plans.

-------------------------------------------------
REGISTRATION:

The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at UCSC will host the Workshop in Santa Cruz, CA. Please fill out the registration form at sites.google.com/site/santacruzcomparisonproject/reg by June 3 if you are interested in attending the Workshop (even if you have already signed up for the Galaxy Workshop 2013 below). There is no registration fee. More information about the Workshop is available in the same website.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz Galaxy Workshop 2013 in parallel could be of your interest. This is a separate summer workshop held annually at UCSC, and is planned for the week of 12-16 August 2013. On Friday 16, the Galaxy Workshop and our own AGORA Workshop will hold joint sessions. If you want to be a part of the Santa Cruz Galaxy Workshop, please visit hipacc.ucsc.edu/GalaxyWorkshop2013.html.

UPDATED FLAGSHIP DRAFT, NOTES ON HALO FINDER, etc:

We have updated the draft of the AGORA Flagship paper thanks to the feedback by many including Governato, Hahn, Keres, Madau, Mayer, Nagamine, O'Shea, and Robertson. In particular, Piero asks you to carefully check Section 3 (common astrophysics) to make sure it is compatible with your code:
