Dear AGORA Colleagues,

We are delighted to announce that the 13th Workshop of the AGORA Project will be held at UC Santa Cruz, Aug. 8-9.

--
[1] OVERVIEW & REGISTRATION:

This year’s AGORA Workshop will be Aug. 8-9 at the heels of the annual Santa Cruz Galaxy Workshop, Aug. 4-8. The workshop will help us carry forward the momentum we are building this year towards a new suite of AGORA simulations — through many telecons and the upcoming Osaka workshop <https://sites.google.com/site/santacruzcomparisonproject/workshops/mini-workshop-2025>. On Friday 8, the AGORA Workshop and the Galaxy Workshop will hold joint sessions on high-resolution galaxy simulations. On Saturday 9, we will have working sessions for ongoing AGORA Papers, and a brainstorming session on Collaboration-wide topics (in ISB Rm 221). In-person participation is encouraged for the Collaboration members who have been actively engaged in the ongoing projects and those who are willing to contribute more in the future. We also ask students/postdocs to contact us who are interested in helping the future AGORA analysis!

● Website, logistics, tentative program, etc: http://www.agorasimulations.org/workshops/workshop-2025 (note: different from Galaxy Workshop)
● Registration: https://forms.gle/NbcnA1evsZEap4FD8

Please fill out the registration above by June 20 if you wish to attend this year's Workshop — in-person or online. Please do so even if you've already been registered to the Santa Cruz Galaxy Workshop <http://hipacc.ucsc.edu/GalaxyWorkshop2025.html> so that we can have an accurate head count for planning. Registered online participants will receive Zoom links for the Saturday morning discussion (starting at 09:30 PDT).

● FYI, if you wish to join the Galaxy Workshop in-person, too, during the main week Aug. 4-8, please talk to Avishai Dekel <mailto:avishai.dekel at mail.huji.ac.il> and register separately.
● If you plan to come only for the AGORA Workshop on the weekend, or to come for only part of the Galaxy Workshop, please inform the AGORA Project Coordinator <mailto:santacruzgalaxy at gmail.com>.

[2] ONGOING PROJECTS:

Here is a quick summary of the ongoing projects in AGORA as of now, which may certainly be updated in the coming months (esp. after the Osaka workshop). You can also find the latest progress report and the links to the detailed online meeting notes here <https://sites.google.com/site/projectagoraworkspace/collaborative-documents/progress-report-29> (membership required).

● Paper VII - "Satellites Quenching" (Ramon Rodriguez Cardoso et al. —> A&A accepted; to be posted on the arXiv along with Paper VIII later)
● Paper VIII - "Disk Morphologies + SKIRT Mocks” (Minyong Jung et al. —> ApJ submitted just today!)
● Paper IX - “Mergers" (Thinh Nguyen et al.)
● Paper X - “High-z Run” (Hyeonyong Kim et al. —> draft to be shared at the Osaka mini-workshop)
● plus: Paper "High-res High-z Run”, Paper “High-res Dwarf Run” (—> pathfinder studies being carried out)

--
Please forward this message to anyone potentially interested, especially to young simulators who hope to participate in the AGORA science comparisons. If you’re interested in any of the ongoing efforts in the progress report above or have any question, please contact the Project Coordinator. We look forward to seeing you in August!

Sincerely,
Joel, Santi, and Ji-hoon on behalf of the Local Organizing Committee and the AGORA Steering Committee
