Dear AGORA Colleagues,

Thank you very much for contributing to the AGORA's second regional workshop, hosted by the University of Osaka in Japan. We had two very productive days discussing ongoing papers and launching ambitious new projects. We would like to sincerely thank Ken and the LOC for their remarkable hospitality, and all those who contributed to the discussion!

Our meeting notes can be found in the links below:

The following is an executive summary of the workshop:

● [1] With the two papers led by Ramón and Minyong recently published/submitted (Papers VII-VIII), we expect to soon see the completion of two more papers, led by Thinh (Paper IX - “Mergers”) and Hyeonyong (Paper X - “High-z Run”). They will work to bring a completed draft ready for final discussion at the August workshop at UCSC (more info below). We thank these young scientists for their tremendous work!

● [2] Future Runs: After the successful “CosmoRun” led by Santi and used in Papers III-IX, we have selected two future directions through the last few telecons/meetings: the “High-res Dwarf Run” and the “High-res High-z Run”.

(2-1) For “High-res Dwarf Run”, we’ve identified multiple strong science cases and decided to first run AGORA 1e10 ICs at ~40 comoving pc resolution, before tackling other ICs such as UFDs. At least 7 code groups have chosen to participate in this comparison, with 3 more to be determined, and with Boon Kiat volunteering to initially lead the charge and collect the fiducial “High-res Dwarf Run", etc. [ACTION ITEM] Each code group will internally determine who is interested in actually running the simulation, and we will build a complete manpower list during the next telecon (late June or early July; more info below).

	• ART-I: (Santi will talk to Daniel)
	• ENZO: Boon Kiat (BK), Ji-hoon and his student
	• RAMSES: Oscar and his student
	• CHANGA: Sijing, Robert, (Johnny)
	• GADGET-3: Hide, Kenta, Shue, Reishi (Ji-hoon confirmed with Hide)
	• GADGET-4: Ken, Kazuki, Pablo, Kenji
	• SWIFT/GEAR: Yves and his student
	• (GAMER-2): (Yuri will talk to Renyue, Hsi-Yu)
	• (GIZMO): (Santi will talk to Phil, Alessandro)
	• (AREPO): (Ken will talk to Anna, Daisuke, Volker)

(2-2) For “High-res High-z Run”, we will wait for the results from Paper X - “High-z Run” first. The science cases for this project are absolutely amazing, so we were all excited!

● [3] Papers Using CosmoRun: While these new simulations are being carried out, we will continue to utilize “CosmoRun” for various ongoing projects. These projects include: Papers “Plane of Satellites” (Ramon/Minyong), “Halo Morphology” (Kirk), “Tidal Streams” (Eduard/Santi), “CGM Evolution” (Isak/Oscar), and “UFD Pre-enrichment” (Mahsa/Yves). We will certainly hear more about these efforts at future meetings. In addition, there are several satellite projects that, although related to AGORA, will be published outside the collaboration. They include a paper about Kirk’s new halo finder, HASKAP-PIE (just submitted), Paper “AGN-Isolated” (BK/Ken), and Paper "ARAGORN (ARrakihs-AGORa)" (Santi).

● [4] Data Release: We will soon release the CosmoRun data at finer redshifts along with more metadata, via FlatHub (http://agorasimulations.org/data).

● [5] Next Meetings: The 13th annual AGORA Workshop will be held at UC Santa Cruz on Aug. 8-9, 2025 PDT. Please visit the AGORA website for more details and to register by Jun. 20 (http://agorasimulations.org/workshops/workshop-2025). Since having a mini-workshop between the annual workshops has proven very effective, a 3rd regional workshop is also planned for May 2026 at Lund University in Sweden, to be hosted by Oscar Agertz and Santi Roca-Fàbrega. Additionally, we will resume our online meetings in late June or early July. Through these telecons, we hope to follow up on all the ongoing Papers and future runs, and speed up their progress. We will send a Doodle poll to active participants to set the date (note that future communications will be directed only to the active participants).

We discussed all these and many more in great details, which you can find in the meeting notes above. If you have any questions or would like to participate in the ongoing/future projects and/or telecons, please contact the Project Coordinator (santacruzgalaxy at gmail.com).

Many thanks once again for all your contribution to AGORA. We hope to see you again in Santa Cruz!

Sincerely,
Santi, Joel and Ji-hoon
