Dear AGORA Colleagues,

Thank you very much for contributing to the 3rd regional workshop of the AGORA Project, hosted by Lund University. We had an incredibly productive week of discussions and ambitious project design. We would especially like to thank Oscar and Santi for their warm hospitality, as well as everyone who actively contributed to the discussions — including the paper leaders, Thinh, BK, Eduard, Isak, Robert, Raghav, and many others!

Our meeting notes are available at the links below:

A brief summary of the ongoing papers:

● Paper IX-1, IX-2 - “Mergers" (Thinh et al. —> alpha release complete; beta release to start in 1-2 weeks)
● Paper XI - “Halo Morphology” (Kirk et al. —> submitted to ApJ; https://arxiv.org/abs/2605.24097)
● Paper XII - “High-res Dwarf Run” (BK et al. —> draft being shared among code leaders; 1 month to refine the code entries, esp. ChaNGa and GAMER-2)
● Paper XIII (number assigned!) - “Tidal Streams” (Eduard et al. —> first draft/plots shared)
● Paper XIV (number assigned!) - “CGM-2” (Isak et al. —> first draft/plots shared)
● Other papers discussed: Papers “CosmoRun-3” (Weiguang et al.), “Plane of Satellites” (Ramon et al.), etc.

In addition:

● Paper “MHD Comparison”: Throughout the week, there was strong enthusiasm for designing and launching a new MHD comparison in galaxy-scale simulations. Robert and Raghav have stepped up to lead the first phase of this effort through a 3-step strategy based on the AGORA isolated IC. Sijing, Tom, Santi, and Ji-hoon will help shape the scientific rationale, design the initial strategy, and advance the comparison step by step (see meeting notes for additional details).

● Future meetings: Monthly telecons will resume in late June to accelerate progress, with a scheduling poll to be circulated among core participants. As dedicated AGORA workshops have proven highly effective (e.g., expected to produce 5+ papers in 2026 alone), we anticipate holding the 4th regional AGORA workshop in May 2027. Ji-hoon is excited about exploring the possibility of hosting the workshop in Seoul again. Further discussion will take place during future telecons.

● AGORA logo & presentation policy: The winner of the AGORA logo competition was Yves, and his entry is attached. A slightly revised final version will be circulated soon for use in e.g., your presentations. Please always remember to remove code names when presenting preliminary composite plots. In addition, please clearly state that the code implementations represented in this comparison may not be identical to specific variants used within each code community (e.g., AREPO in AGORA is not necessarily equal to AREPO-TNG).

We covered many additional topics in detail, so we encourage you to review the meeting notes above. If you have any questions or would like to participate in ongoing or future projects and/or telecons, please contact the Project Coordinator at santacruzgalaxy at gmail.com.

Many thanks once again for all your contributions to AGORA, which helped make this week especially productive. We look forward to seeing you again online soon!

Sincerely,
Santi and Ji-hoon
