Dear Starting Workshop Participants,
We welcome you to the Starting Workshop for the Santa Cruz High-resolution Galaxy Simulation Comparison Project (Aug.17-19, 2012). More than 45 individuals representing 7 different astrophysical codes have shown their interest in the project so far.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM:
An up-to-date version of the program is available on the project webpage. If you are given a talk slot or a chair duty, please make sure to check the latest schedule.

A discussion note on "items to be decided during the workshop" is under the tab "workspace" of the project website. Other useful resources are being collected in this very preliminary collaboration space. Anybody can start editing (passwd: charge2013).

REMOTE PARTICIPATION:
We will record all the Friday talks and upload them on the web. We also plan to broadcast the Saturday session via EVO (9:30am - 3:30pm PDT, 08/18), and Sunday session as well depending on user interest. EVO is a multi-user video chat (evo.caltech.edu), and we highly recommend remote participants to register ahead of time and see if the program runs well. Attached below is the detailed EVO booking information. Participants can call in using the international numbers below, via Skype, or of course via EVO; please remember the meeting ID below if you want to phone/skype in. If you run into problems, contact evosupport at vrvs.org.
Finally, discussion notes for Saturday/Sunday discussion will also be updated through Google Doc. You can find the link above; anybody is welcome to edit the note real time during the discussion!

MEALS & etc.:
If you are arriving on Friday only for the Starting Workshop, your Friday lunch will be covered by UC-HiPACC; feel free to grab your lunch outside the conference room. For Saturday and Sunday, breakfasts, lunches, and coffee breaks will be provided by UC-HiPACC. Parking at the Core West Parking Structure is free on Saturday and Sunday. If you have any question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact us.
