Dear All,
This is a reminder that we will have a web conference for AGORA Paper 4 in several hours, May 6 (Wed, 9am PDT / 6pm CEST). This telecon will focus on the future work for Paper 4, with some updates from Paper 3, but any interested AGORA member is welcome to attend. Please have your headset handy to help reduce the echo. This time we may proactively mute a person who is sending audio yet not talking. (This person always has the freedom to unmute himself anytime, though.)
Please have a look at the updated discussion agenda and future timeline.

Note that our focus will be future tasks, not to repeat what has already been extensively discussed. We want to remind you that the consensus for Paper 4 regarding resolution, Jeans pressure floor, AMR refinement, star formation, and thermal feedback has been identified in the past meetings, some carefully documented in the AGORA disk IC readme file. Please take time to read the following docs before coming to the telecon.

Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Oscar, Romain and Ji-hoon

> Based on a popular vote, we will have an ~1-hour web conference for AGORA Paper 4 on May 6 (Wed, 9am PDT / 6pm CEST). Discussion items are being updated in Section 2 of sites.google.com/site/projectagoraworkspace/collaborative-documents/progress-report-7. And attached is the SeeVogh booking information. (Please help to reduce the echo by turning off your mic when you are not speaking. If we experience severe echo despite our best effort, we will switch to Google Hangout.)

>> Dear All,
>>
>> Many of you and the members of the AGORA Steering Committee suggested that we have a web conference to push AGORA Paper 4 - Isolated Disk Comparison. You are receiving this message because you are either known participants of Paper 4, or those who we understand are using the AGORA isolated disks in your study, or those who implemented Grackle in participating codes. Please go to the poll by Apr. 23 so we can figure out the best time slot in the coming weeks: doodle.com/8vmn73rabbia3dce
>>
>> Note that 7+ participating codes including GIZMO have now completed isolated disk tests and yt visualizations (see Section 4 in sites.google.com/site/projectagoraworkspace/collaborative-documents/isolated-disk-sims). Per Steering Committee’s recommendation, Paper 4 will be an area of focused AGORA efforts before this year's summer workshop.
>>
>> --
>> The web discussion will be centered on how to strategically move forward with Paper 4. In particular,
>>
>> (1) Logistics: Can we agree to the near-term timeline the Paper Group leaders have discussed? Given the time constraint, do we need to narrow or re-define the scope of Paper 4? Can we identify at least one *devoted* person per each code? Ji-hoon is willing to volunteer to collect the datasets and run some initial cross-platform analysis.
>>
>> (2) First dataset submission (e.g. Grackle+no SF run): Can we agree to and list the specific requirements for the first datasets to be submitted, e.g. no SF + mid-resolution + Grackle or Grackle-compatible cooling? In principle these datasets could be collected very soon, immediately in many cases. We can already work with yt to resolve outstanding issues. Iterate until each code arrives at a parameter configuration that makes their code compatible with others.
>>
>> (3) Second dataset submission (e.g. Grackle+SF+thermal fbck run): Grackle is now fully implemented in ART-II (Chicago), ENZO, GADGET, and GIZMO. Can we set a deadline for remaining groups to either implement the AGORA-Grackle API Nick just released (bitbucket.org/gnedin/agora_api, if Grackle 2.0 isn’t already working with your code via its improved interface: groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/grackle-cooling-users/O4p108enOGY), or identify their own Grackle-compatible cooling? We will use isolated disks as testbeds for Grackle, so may we consider incentivizing Grackle implementers with credits in Paper 4 (not just 3)? Check if SF+thermal fbck recipes in each codes are compatible with the one in the AGORA Flagship paper, and within SPH/AMR peers.
>>
>> Please feel free to talk to me about anything in regard with Paper 4. Send in an additional agenda for the web discussion. Please also feel free to forward this message to anyone who might be interested (in AGORA or not).

>> FYI, an up-to-date AGORA progress report is at sites.google.com/site/projectagoraworkspace/collaborative-documents/progress-report-7. The 2015 Santa Cruz Galaxy Workshop will be August 17-21 (hipacc.ucsc.edu/GalaxyWorkshop2015.html) followed by the usual weekend AGORA workshop August 21-23 (sites.google.com/site/santacruzcomparisonproject/workshops/4th-workshop). Joel expects that HiPACC may support a few key players for their travel and lodging during the AGORA Workshop. Don’t hesitate to email me or Joel if there is any question.
>>
>> Sincerely,
>> Romain, Oscar, and Ji-hoon
